The SAP course duration vary from institue to institute. In some institutes it is 45 dyas training plus 15 days project whereas in some it can go up to four months.

2. What is the fee struture?
Fees depends upon institute to institute. Some small institutes charge 10-15,000 rupees, whereas some better known institutes like Reliance(Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore) charge 20-25,000 rupees. Authorized institutes like Siemens do not train candidates who are not willing to take certifiaction and they charge around 2.8 lakhs for training+certification.

In india there are three Authorised SAP certification partners. There are training-cum-certification partners of SAP.
1. Genovate
2. Siemens
3. SAP labs

These institutes provide training as well as certification in defferent cities across india like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. It is a 45 days residential course where you learn in class room and do a mini project to get the feel of realtime work. After your training you can appear for the certification exam. The cost for the same comes around 2.75 laks with taxes - so far i know. There is no placement guarantee after getting the certification.

The total fees is 2,75,000 including taxes. Rs. 25,000 is the certification charges and Rs. 2,50,000 is is the training course fees.

One cannot go for certification alone without taking the training course provided by these institutes. One has to take training course to get the certification even if one is already trained and has work experiance.

This is the formal certification what you can go for, but other than that there are plenty of autherised training institutes across India who provide only training (No Certification) apart from so many local institutes. Training cost in these institutes varies from 15K to 50K and of course, to do courses in these institutes you need to do some research regarding its course content, faculty, placement assistance, facilities etc. Training in Hyderabad is the cheapest, as far as i know.

You need 70% marks to pass the certification exam and one can appear at most three times with each time paying Rs. 25,000 for the exam.

This is a subscription site. There's an ABAP simulator you can buy from an Australian company. You should visit sites with sap articles such as sapinsider, etc. and also attend free webinars on SAP products. SAP (SAP ERP) stands for Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing. SAP was developed by SAP AG, a German Company. SAP R/3 or SAP ERP are two versions of the enterprise resource planning software product of SAP AG.

SAP was founded in 1972 as Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung.
The acronym SAP was later changed to Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung in German("Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing in English").

In 1972 the SAP R/1 solution was launched. Seven years later, in 1979, SAP launched SAP R/2. In 1981, SAP brought a completely re-designed solution to market. With the change from R/2 to R/3 in 1992, SAP followed the trend from mainframe computing to client-server architectures. The development of SAP’s internet strategy with mySAP.com redesigned the concept of business processes (integration via Internet)

SAP ERP is desinged to cater all the needs of an organization from various departments without any need to use additional software application. For this, SAP maintains a central database for all the departments of an enterprise. SAP ERP includes four individual solutions that support key functional areas:

SAP ERP Operations
SAP ERP Corporate Services

Due to a central database, all SAP modules are interconnected and hence realtime reporting becomes possible unlike in legacy systems where due to lack of interconnection between various applications being used realtime reporting is not possible resulting in time lag.

As an example let us suppose that a top level manager wants to review the situation of the company at the end of the day. Using legasy system, it is not possible because data has to be acollected from different departments and then processed, which may take time or till the next day, but in SAP ERP environment as all the departments and interconnected and events are updated realtime, the top level managers acn have access to all the reports in realtime time thus saving time and helping in faster decision making.

A CMMS software package maintains a computer database of information about an organization’s maintenance operations. There are only two authorized SAP Training partners in India from where you can get SAP Certification. These are the following.

1. Genvate.
2. Siemens.

These institutes will charge Rs. 2,75000 for training. Rs. 2,50000 is the the training fees and Rs. 25,000 for Certification. You need to have 70% marks in the Certification exam, which is a bit hard. You can appear at most three times paying 25,000 each time.

But there is no placement guarantee even after Certification from these institutes with only 1/4 Certified consultants getting palced.

Apart from these two training centers, there are numerous other institutes in all the major cities of India, which offer SAP training at cheap rates. SAP History

The first version of SAP's enterprise software was a financial Accounting system named R/1. (The "R" was for "Realtime data processing"). This was replaced by R/2 at the end of the 1970s. SAP R/2 was a mainframe based business application software suite that was very successful in the 1980s and early 1990s. With the advent of distributed client server computing SAP AG brought out a client-server version of the software called SAP R/3 that was manageable on multiple platforms and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows or UNIX since 1999, which opened up SAP to a whole new customer base. SAP R/3 was officially launched on 6 July 1992. SAP came to dominate the large business applications market over the next 10 years.
